Graphite and Charcoal, 2012. This boy was standing across from a church I went to in Cape Town, South Africa in 2011. His curiosity and still expression struck me amidst the playful commotion near the church between the Americans and local kids, and even as I walked over and took a few pictures of him, he didn't move nor change his expression. The eye contact was piercing. While I was pleased to discover his name, his story remains unknown, like that of many people in need around the world.
